Started  ‘en plein air’, and finished in the studio, this oil painting of a waterfall in Vickery Creek in Roswell, GA was fun to paint.  The contrast of the shade on the rocks and water in the foreground and the brightly lit white water of the falls really excited me.   Add to that the sounds of the falls, the chirping of birds in the trees, and just being outdoors, for the perfect ingredients for a lovely way to spend a day!

I love waterfalls!  The beauty of the cascading water, the sound of the water as it splashes on the rocks, the prisms of color in the pool reflections and what , at first, appears to be white suds….I love it all.  This particular waterfall can be found adjacent to the Chapel at Calloway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA.   The oil painting started ‘en plein aire’, and completed in the studio.  This particular location was chosen for its sense of serenity - perfect for meditation and reflection.   I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it!
