"Blue Ridge Mountain Cabin" by Diane K. Hewitt
11x14" Oil on Canvas
My family has spent many wonderful long weekends over the past 12
years at this Blue Ridge mountain cabin in the Northwest Georgia Mountains. It is set between Ellijay and Blue Ridge, GA,
and is across the main road from the entrance to Springer Mountain, which is
the location of the terminus of the Appalachian Trail. We are not big hikers, although we have
ventured there a time or two. There are
only 3 other homes in our mountain “neighborhood”, and we are especially
fortunate that some of our best friends are our neighbors on the mountain. With hardwood trees as far as the eye can see, and views that rival the very best boasted
in Gilmer County, much of our time at
the log cabin is spent either lounging around the back deck viewing the year-round beauty of nature, or by the wood-burning fireplace on the
screened porch that we built onto the cabin years ago. I’m glad that I have finally painted this
family treasure!
