SWAN REPOSE I by Cathy McIntire, 14"x 11"

Swan Repose I, Oil on Linen
See my Blog
This original oil of a Mute Swan is painted on 3/8″ linen gallery wrap canvas. I think I am attracted to swans because they are white, as well as the fact that they are just such graceful and beautiful birds.

Painting white images requires a bit of understanding of warm and cool colors, and how they can be used to show depth and dimension, giving the subject a three dimensional quality. White is never just white, and that is both the challenge and the fun!
